Sorella [so-rèl-la]: Italian for sister
Muse: a source of inspiration
Jacqui is my sister, my confidante, my co-conspirator, and my best friend. She is also my muse. When I first began to see my camera, at the time a dinky little point and shoot, as a medium for my creative impulse, it was always her I wanted to see through the lens. She sat for me patiently on many afternoons while I puzzled out the relationship between aperture and shutter speed. So it seemed natural to name my photographic adventure after her.
And…my sister loves all things Italian (the churches and chapels, Caravaggio and Bernini, the romance of the language, the pizza and gelato, Tuscany) She spent a semester abroad in Rome during college, and consequently makes a mean risotto. She inspires me daily with her passion, authenticity, strength, humor, and grace. She has a big heart, a bigger laugh, and a lot of opinions. She is essential to both my happiness and my sanity.
The inspiration behind my photography is always drawn from the subject, as much as my imagination. My camera is constantly in search of a muse.
